About Georgia Girl

Georgia Girl is a young, sweet Rottie/Mountain Cur mix who was adopted from the shelter last year and currently lives with 2 female Rotties and a cat. She gets along well with her animal siblings (shows interest in the cat, but does not chase/attack). She LOVES older children and gets along very well with adults. Due to her past history of abuse, she is fearful or being restrained by a muzzle or pulled by her collar without a leash. We discovered these fears when she snapped at a vet tech at her very first vet appointment as he tried to muzzle her and when she snapped at the caretaker who dragged off her owner's bed by her collar (She spends 10 hours a day closed in a guest room and didn't want to be closed in the guest room for the rest of the day after her walk and just wanted to be in her owner's room.). Neither of these incidents required doctors or stitches. They came from a place of fear and not knowing how to handle her as an adopted dog not yet fully knowing her personality. She needs to be rehomed because the caretaker who pulled her by her collar off her owner's bed while lying down is afraid to handle her now and the owner relies on the caretaker for her other two dogs since she is gone 10 hours a day. The owner is devastated about giving her up. Again, no doctor or stitches were required. We currently have Georgia enrolled in a 6-week training at Show Me Your Dog Training in Halethorpe for 6 weeks because we believe she is a good, loving girl that just needs some help addressing her fear/ nervousness when being handled around her neck and muzzle. This training will make her more trusting and comfortable in such situations with people and allow her to thrive as a dog in a loving home. We want to do right by Georgia and find her a dedicated and loving home after her training is over. She needs an owner that understands that abused dogs from shelters need some work and training, which she is getting now.
