About Carmel-PENDING!

Maltese / Yorkie
Age: Young Adult
Sex: Female

Whenever a sweet and engaging Terrier mix gets into an urgent situation, Farfel's rescuers like to help. We find that dogs of this breed mix are loving, smart and make great family companions. They fit so well into a household and make excellent best friends for all age groups as well as other dogs. Carnel is one of these cuddly and very sweet Terriers. The New Mexico vets believe Alice to be a Yorkie (based on body structure and personality) mixed with the cottony-soft Maltese. She's a playful and very silly/entertaining girl. Carmel is a puppyish girl in her enthusiasm for all people that are kind to her. She has a smile that stretches from ear to ear..and a love of life that knows no bounds. Wherever this joyful baby goes, she brings her positive attitude and fun-loving (occasionally mischievous) energy along with her. Carmel is a young pup that would benefit (as all dogs do) from positive reinforcement group training classes. These classes create a strong bond between a dog and their people. With the introduction of new skills, a dog's self-esteem increases creating a more well-adjusted and happy dog. Farfel's is happy to provide a list of positive reinforcement (force free) trainers in your area. Sometimes rescue dogs are initially a bit shy....but put them into a home with a loving family that provides frequent socialization, nurturing, love and belly rubs.. and they will shine. Carmel is one of these pups...she's a blank slate that's just waiting for the commitment of a great family. Her love will know no bounds as she becomes a best friend and the greatest lap dog ever. Carmel is such a great age and size... at 2.5 years old (a perfect age - young enough to be a blank slate open to new concepts in her life yet old enough to have left most babyish behaviors behind) and weighs 8 lbs (perfect size to accompany her people anywhere a sweet and social pup is welcome). Carmel has a beautiful, non-shedding (or perhaps lightly shedding) coat...this is hard to tell for certain until her sad shelter hair grows into a well-cared for coat. Carmel will require a commitment to periodic grooming and great nutrition (a daily salmon oil supplement is recommended for longevity and coat care) to keep her scruffy coat healthy, cottony-soft and matt-free. We've requested that Carmel be spayed prior to her transport to Denver. We're not optimistic that this will occur due to too many dogs and not enough vets in this industrial area of New Mexico. If it doesn't, Farfel's is happy to cover all charges for Carmel to be fixed/microchipped if our Denver vet is used. Carmel will be arriving on transport in Denver in mid-July (we'll update exact date when information is confirmed). Applications are currently being accepted and can be found at http://farfels.com/farfels-rescue/adoption-form/. If interested in this sweet, cuddly and fun-loving best friend, please fill out our application completely and submit. **PLEASE NOTE** If you're truly interested in adopting Carmel please be sure to fill out our adoption application. It's the only initial tool that we have to determine a great match for this very deserving guy. We're sorry, but in most cases, we're unable to get back to those that don't submit an adoption application. Thanks so much for choosing rescue.
