About Deuce

Deuce arrived in tact and blind. He was taken out of a hoarding situation where the owner had been institutionalized and there were several in-tact males. He's covered in scars and has obviously had a miserable life. Two Vets both tell us he has a brain tumor. The tumor causes him to run in counter-clockwise circles. When he's calm, it's not so bad but it's a lot worse when he's upset or stressed. Hes has responded well to treatment with Gabapentin for the anxiety and circle running. And Dues comes with a sponsor who will fund his Gabapentin for the rest of his life. Both doctors say it's too risky to sedated him even to be neutered. Deuce doesn't like other dogs or cats, but isn't much of a threat because he can't see to catch them. He's friendly, loving, and very playful. He responds well to soft voice commands and will come towards you when you call him. He knows how to sit and lay down. And he loves to have his belly rubbed. His favorite things are squeak toys and tennis balls, which he quickly destroys. And he LOVES to play in water in a kiddie pool. And he's always up for a good game of tug. Our rescue will NEVER euthanize for space. But if a dog is suffering we will let them go. Deuce is unhappy in a cage here and desperately needs a home to live out the rest of his life without such strict confinement. Deuce needs a foster home or a parent of his own.
