About Louie-ADOPTION PENDING

Shih Tzu / Poodle
Age: Puppy
Sex: Male

When Louie's rescuer walked down the aisle of the dismal Texas shelter, she was shocked to see the adorable (and extremely dirty and matted) Louie tucked tightly into a cage...his time was up. Farfel's immediately got a call describing how incredibly cute and sweet this Shih Tzu mix is..and the need to save his life. We immediately agreed and Louie became a very treasured Farfel's dog. He earned a ticket to a wonderful new life in Colorado with his great temperament (a bit shy initially but warms up quickly) that holds every possibility for a great future. At just about 9 - 12 months old and 12 lbs, this very beautiful pup is a blank slate waiting for positive input and guidance to be the best dog he's capable of being. We'd love to match Louie to a family that will spend lots of time with this very portable guy. He's that perfect size to accompany his family just about anywhere a small dog is welcome...and would love it. Positive reinforcement group obedience class will not only provide socialization and great skills...but will cement the relationship between Louie and his family. He's so smart that he's a natural to succeed in learning his skills...and would be so excited at his success! Louiw gets lots of attention when he's out and about...he's engaging (while a bit shy at first) and as sweet as can be. He's also extremely eye-catching and wears an endearing smile...his foster thinks he's just an adorable and fun-loving scruffy guy that's irresistible! When Louie turns that gentle look in your direction (with those amazing dark and expressive eyes), you can't help but smile at his adorable ways. You can see a bit of a sign that this young pup has had difficult times. But not for him to be negative..a smile and a wag is more Louie's style. It's clear that he is working on leaving any pain from his previous life behind. Farfel's Rescue is searching for an adult family..or with older children for Louie. It''s not that he actively doesn't like young kids..it just appears that Louie is more comfortable and braver around calm energy. A retired couple or individual would be perfect for this guy. He would thrive on the time and attention that retirees often put into their pets. Louie, once bonded, will be a loyal and and very loving companion....that makes him very easy to spend time with just enjoying the wonders of life in Colorado. Louie would also enjoy time with dogs of similar size who can be gentle playmates. When you're only 12 lbs, even a very well-adjusted dog can be intimidated by larger, rambunctious dogs Louie is so grateful being out of the shelter that there's almost always a smile on his beautiful face. He's a very happy pup once comfortable...a bit of patience, treats and belly rubs will truly get this guy's attention as he's had far too little of all in his life. He's also a lap-dog extraordinaire..loving the quality time together. Louie's foster mom is very happy to report that Louie is coming out of his shell more each day...he's actually blossoming. She's very clear that Louie will be a very loyal and bonded family member when he has love and nurturing as a constant in his life. Louie will be up to date on his vetting/vaccinations to be in line with our commitment to adopting out healthy and well-balanced dogs. We've requested that Louie be neutered/microchipped prior to his transport to Colorado. If this doesn't occur, Farfel's is happy to cover all costs for Louie's neuter and microchip if our Denver vet is used. Louie will be arriving on transport in Boulder on Saturday 7/14/18. Applications are currently being accepted for this very sweet, engaging and loving best friend. An application can be found at http://farfels.com/farfels-rescue/adoption-form/. If interested, please fill out completely and submit. PLEASE NOTE: If you're truly interested in adopting Louie, please be sure to submit our adoption application. It's the only initial tool that we have to determine a great match for this very deserving dog. We're sorry, but in most circumstances, we're unable to get back to those that don't submit an adoption application. Thanks so much for choosing rescue.
