About Annie

Australian Cattle Dog / Border Collie
Age: Young Puppy
Sex: Female

There's nothing quite like puppy energy and silliness...and then they lie quietly on your shoulder breathing their warm baby breath. They're so pure and vulnerable that it's unbearable to think of them in a high-kill shelter. Annie, at 11 weeks old and just about about 10 lbs (estimated to be full grown at about 28 - 35 lbs), was facing the end of her life before it ever began. Farfel's New Mexico rescuers are compassionate and loving and couldn't turn their back on this puppy with the great temperament..they rescued Annie just in time to spare her life. Annie is starting out with great energy...the excellent results of her temperament-testing ended with a transport ticket to Colorado and a new life. She's also incredibly beautiful...with a gorgeous blue merle coat with markings of the purest white. Annie will require a commitment to periodic grooming and great nutrition (salmon oil is an excellent lifelong supplement for longevity and hair care) to keep her coat healthy, shining and soft as cotton. Annie is appropriately playful and inquisitive for her young age. She's also so loving and cuddly...she would be very excited to be a lap dog and cuddle with her favorite people at the end of an active day. She's super- smart and very engaging...very typical of the cross of a Blue Heeler and a Border Collie (many would say these two breeds are the most intelligent in the dog world). Since Annie is just a baby, she's a blank slate just waiting for a kind and patient human to show her the way. She has all the potential in the world to be an awesome adult companion - Annie will form firm bonds with her family (as well as other dogs and humans) and learn positive socialization skills through Puppy Kindergarten followed by positive reinforcement group Obedience Classes. It does take time and commitment...yet pays off a thousand times over when you have a dog that can accompany you in the world with great behavior. We're open to Annie finding her forever home with a retired couple or individual with lots of energy to train and enjoy a silly and super-smart puppy. Annie loves children as well...we would prefer to place her in a home with older kids (tail pulling or rough treatment will create a puppy that's fearful of children). Older kids can be active participants in a training regimen that's so important in a puppy's development as a well-behaved adult dog. Annie will be up to date on her vetting/vaccinations to be in line with our commitment to adopting out healthy and well-balanced puppies. We've requested that Annie be spayed prior to her transport to Colorado. If this doesn't occur, Farfel's is happy to cover all costs for Annie's spay and microchip if our Denver vet is used. Annie will be arriving on transport in mid-July (we'll update when we get date confirmation). Applications and inquiries are currently being accepted for this very sweet and loyal best friend. An application can be found at http://farfels.com/farfels-rescue/adoption-form/. If interested, please fill out completely and submit. PLEASE NOTE: If you're truly interested in adopting Annie, please be sure to submit our adoption application. It's the only initial tool that we have to determine a great match for this very deserving dog. We're sorry, but in most circumstances, we're unable to get back to those that don't submit an adoption application. Thanks so much for choosing rescue.
