About Rusty(RM)

Adoption Fee: $100
Lab / Chesapeake Bay Retriever
Age: Puppy
Sex: Male

Meet Rusty We are heartbroken! For more than a year this incredible dog has been overlooked time and time again. We don't understand why. We're hoping we can find him his forever home soon. Rusty was surrendered by his owner when life got in the way and he arrived on July 7, 2018. When entering the shelter he was terrified of everything - people, noises, the kennel bars, the concrete floor and most of all the confinement. Rusty has adapted to the shelter over time, but it hurts our hearts to see him struggle with the confinement. Rusty is 2.7 years old. We think he's a retriever/husky mix. He weighs 57 pounds and is not only gorgeous on the outside, he's beautiful on the inside. Working with a special trainer, Rusty has learned to trust people. Where he once ducked any sort of contact, Rusty now welcomes being petted. He's become a quietly confident and playful young dog. He is a dream walker and doesn't pull. He loves to take leisurely walks and appreciates every minute he gets outside of his kennel. He loves to lean on you and really appreciates being brushed. Rusty knows some basic commands and looks to his person for direction and guidance. Rusty is a fairly calm dog, but he has a lot of energy. He needs a good amount of exercise and would make for an excellent hiking companion. He aims to please and is game for anything fun. Rusty has one blue and one brown eye that are mesmerizing and his coat is a beautiful dark red color. Rusty is a shelter favorite. Rusty is neutered, microchipped and fully vetted. If you are looking for your best companion, come meet one incredible young dog. Rusty is a gem that you don't find very often. Come meet him. You'll be glad you did.
