About Wendell, Passed

Boxer
Age: Senior
Sex: Male

'Hi y'all I'm Wendell, at least currently, I've had a few names over the last couple of weeks. I had me a close call but I'm doing fine now. A lovely lady took my picture when I was only a few days away from not being around for good and put it out into the social media world and generated up some interest in my situation. In parallel, Legacy Boxer Rescue, as they always do, was getting their volunteers ready to come get me. So, as I already said, I'm doing fine now and the LBR team guarantees I never have to worry again since I'll never be in that situation again, ever, because I'm part of the LBR family now. I held up pretty good, for a 10 year old boy, while I was penned up. Can't thank the shelter workers enough for looking out for me while I was there. I was so happy to be leaving that I tried to say goodbye to all I saw, including the cat that was lying down in the entry way and a couple of dogs coming in. My weight is 56 pounds but I'll probably gain a couple more now that food is regular and I'm comfortable in a home. My grey muzzle, against my faded fawn hair, is showing a rather nice regal bearing and my sad eyes are starting to sparkle again. I even have enough energy now that I trot back into the house after I have visited the backyard. Also, I can get a great back rub when I roll over onto the grass and scratch. It's fun again to go through my various positions when commanded. I can sit, go down, stay, come, and my favorite, shake hands, or paws depending on your perspective. I really like my foster house where I can sleep in my own crate or I can lay upon various dog beds in the house, although I do have my favorite. I can give a woo woo or errrgh errgh when I want attention and I always get a back rub. And boy do I like back rubs. I also like to go and lay down in the back yard, sometimes in the sun, and when I'm done I just go knock on the door to let my foster family know I'm ready to come in. I have had a nice time at my foster family's home. I haven't had any potty mistakes and they leave me alone at home for hours at a time. I do get lonely, sometimes, but I only moan for a little while and then settle down and rest. My visits to the veterinarian have been good. I have a couple of skin tags and lumps but nothing to worry about and I am Heartworm negative. So I am ready and anxious to search out and meet with my new forever family. If you think you would be partial to an aged, distinguished and regal-looking Boxer boy I could be your fellow. How about reaching out to LBR's volunteers and we'll setup a visit. If you're interested that social media thing turned into an article on The Dodo media site: https://www.thedodo.com/close-to-home/old-boxer-rescued-mesquite-shelter I look forward to meeting my forever family and while I wait for you let me give out a woo woo for all of you out there in social media that care for guys like me.
