About Weston, Adopted

Boxer
Age: Puppy
Sex: Male

'Thanks to Legacy Boxer Rescue, this sweet young boy has a chance at a happy life! He found himself in a shelter with a wounded eye, all alone, so scared to move he would just lay there. Thankfully the shelter gave LBR a chance to save him. Today he's a happy boy, he's recovered from kennel cough and ready to get healthy. He will have surgery on 7/19 to have his neuter and his eye removed. Unfortunately he has traumatic glaucoma (we're unsure from what but appears to be from a puncture/hit), that was left untreated so he's blind, there is so much pressure it causes him discomfort. So he will rock the 1 eye look! His other eye is beautifully healthy. He does appear to have allergies, so he'll need a routine of benedryl. He's very puppy; he's about 95% potty trained, still needs to be watched, we're working on bell training so he can alert us when he needs to go out. His forever home will need to keep a very a clean house; no toys or kid's stuffed animals or laundry laying anywhere he can get it. He will collect things and lick them to death and just have them near him. He's so quiet about it so you have to keep doors closed or baby gate area's that can't be kept clean all the time. Also, he's a licker, I'm thinking this goes along with his allergies? He will wake us during the night just licking himself, it's SO LOUD!!! LOVES to snuggle & get all the positive attention he can get from his people and other dogs. He takes direction from my two dogs very well. Ruger (our boxer) can be a grump sometimes and will growl (with teeth) at Weston when he gets to be too much and Weston will lay down & show his sweet eye to Ruger to get him to stop. Weston watches Ranger (our GSD) for safety, he follows his lead on house rules, its crazy adorable!!! So that will be a must for his forever home, he will have to have another dog companion. He loves running laps in the backyard with his foster brothers. He is crate trained, but it's not his favorite place. Since he likes to collect items that aren't his, he will need to be crated when left alone (wouldn't want him to get an obstruction from eating something he shouldn't). He can be vocal when crated, so an apartment wouldn't be an option for him. He does very well with all people, he can be unsure about new people until he's had a chance to observe and make sure they won't hurt him. Great with kids, he is still learning about personal space, so dog savvy kids will be a better option for him, he's very gentle with kids but can get in their face for kisses and wants to be in your lap if you'll let him. Once he's healed from his surgery he'll be ready to start looking for his forever home.
