About Rocky

We have to rehome our gorgeous Rottweiler Boxer (Boxweiler). He will be 3 years old in October. He's very lovable to just about everyone if introduced properly. He was raised as a pup on our farm and would be a great protection dog for someone's house or farm. He's not real fond of small children. He has been around many children and has been kind of indifferent to them. But recently he has started growling at our 4 year old daughter and another child that visits sometimes. He will need a strong person to keep him in line. He is 116 lbs and can be aggressive towards strangers. He lunges and barks like a police dog when behind a fence or in the car but has never bit anyone. You can take the same person inside and he will love them and want to sit on their lap. He just seems to think he's on guard duty when he's behind a fence or gate. I'm beginning to think he may just be all bark because he has had many opportunities to bite people and he hasn't tried, he just has an extremely intimidating bark. He's very smart and I've been working on toning down the aggression. I have no idea if he would ever hurt a child but a few times he has given a low warning growl when my daughter tries to hug him or pet him and I just can't take a chance with my young daughter or anyone else's child. He's not going to just run out an attack a kid but I believe if a kid were to continually aggravate him or pick with him too much maybe it could happen. That's why we have to rehome him. Just want to make sure that whoever gets him is aware of this. He would be awesome for a person who travels. He loves to travel. Trust me no one is going near your car when he is with you. Just his appearance is enough to keep you safe. Everywhere I go people want to know what breed he is so he's a looker also. He doesn't destroy things or jump on you. He's very mellow inside and likes to sleep at your feet. He's still very playful. Likes to play tug of war and fetch. He's good with other dogs and cats but is protective of his food and can be aggressive to another dog if he goes near his food. He's a bit dominate so probably wouldn't do well with another dominate dog. Contact me if you want to know more. I'm not in a rush. I've been keeping him separated from my daughter. He's a great dog who has never had an uncomfortable day in his life and he will make an extraordinary companion to the right person.
