About Smokey

Smokey is an 11 year old black/tan smooth Dachshund that was surrendered earlier this year (2018) to a local shelter along with his daughter Angel due to their owner's long term illness.Smokey has had a dental, neuter and his vaccinations. Smokey weighs 11 lbs. Smokey gets along well with other dogs. He likes to chase and bark at the cats that live outside at his foster home. He likes to burrow under blankets, snuggle on your lap, and give kisses. He does have the occasional 'accident' in the house but is otherwise house trained. He warms up to strangers slowly. If another dog is getting attention Smokey likes to get his share of attention as well. He rarely barks inside the house. He walks well on a leash and likes to go for walks. He has learned not to bark at the outside cats when his foster mom reminds him not to bark. He and his daughter have recently discovered the toads that hang around his foster home and spend much of their time sniffing for toads. SGF would prefer to adopt Smokey and his daughter Angel together but may consider adopting them out separately if it's determined that a particular family is a good match. Smokey and Angel are being fostered in NE Ohio.
