What a sweet and kind Shih Tzu/Maltese mix (at least that's the relinquishers/vet opinion) our Lady is! It's a breed mix that is extremely popular for their sweet (and fun/silly) temperaments, gorgeous non-shedding coats and adorable looks. Because of these great qualities, they are opportunistically bred in hopes of receiving top dollar for their puppies. As a result of this human greed, these dogs are often kept in awful conditions while being bred, sold or dumped if things don't go well. Farfel's is very happy to rescue these dogs and find them nurturing and committed homes. At just about 4.5 years old (such a great age..old enough to have left puppyish behaviors behind and young enough to have many, many active, healthy years ahead) and about 13 lbs, Lady is a very sweet and beautiful girl. We know it's not evident in this awful photo, but once groomed, Lady will emerge as a gorgeous representative of her breed mix. She will require a lifelong commitment to periodic grooming and excellent nutrition (salmon oil is a great daily supplement for longevity and coat care). Lady will emerge through this great care as a gorgeous dog that carries all the wonderful qualities of the Shih Tzu and Maltese breeds. We know that Lady has arrived when we see the wag (once she's comfortable in her environment) that starts at her tail and becomes a full-blown body wiggle...Lady is greeting either a friend or anyone who has the potential to be a future playmate. She is initially cautious...assessing the situation to make sure all is OK...then there's no one sweeter then Lady. When Lady was identified with a great temperament, Farfel's spoke up to bring her to safety (and a new forever family) in Colorado. Once she senses that all present are her friends, Lady is so warm and friendly that she hopes every pat and kind word will turn into a best friend. Both people and other dogs are drawn to Lady for her kind attitude and playful ways. She is just starting to learn to play with toys and waits expectantly...with her eyes so bright and joyful..to have her foster mom involved in her game. Farfel's Rescue has determined that Lady needs a mellow home where she is an active and important member of the family. We feel that this would be more possible in an adult home (retirees would be perfect) where there's a more predictable environment. Lady would be overjoyed to spend parts of the day together either strolling through the park or walking together along the beautiful paths and trails of Colorado. Then at day's end, Lady is the ultimate snuggler lying close on the bed or close by in her own spot. She sleeps soundly through the night.
