About Val

Val's story is a very sad one. Found on the side of the road in Homestead, FL on Father's Day it was obvious he was abused and injured. Some who have seen him believe he may have been used as a bait dog. The man who found him took him to Broward Animal Care and Adoption where he was seen by a Vet and given medications. His 'savior' took him out of the facility as a foster but knew he could not foster due to his personal housing situation. He wanted to be sure that Val would not be killed and he knew that I would be standing by.On June 27th Val came to stay with me as a temporary foster. I have 3 cats and they and Val cannot exist together which is why I need to find another foster/rescue or loving soul that will want to give this sweet boy who's been through hell and back a chance at a decent life. He craves attention and love. Is happy to just be in the same room with me. Doesn't jump all over me and wags his tail like there's no tomorrow. He likes to take walks and doesn't pull me all over the place. His contact with other adults, male and female, has been very positive. He has growled and barked at my cats, a Sandhill Crane and a few ducks in my backyard. Other than that, when we were at the Vets the day after I received him he became tense and pulled somewhat on the leash when he saw a Golden Retriever. Upon leaving the Vet there were 3 small Pomeranian like dogs that were barking their heads off and he had no interest in them at all. He has not been around children so I cannot be sure how he might be. His past is undocumented and all one can go by are the scars on his face and body. It's amazing that he is still so trusting and loving. Please help me find someone who'll give him a chance at a decent life. He is scheduled to be neutered at Broward Animal Care on either the 11th or 12th of July. A Go Fund Me account has been set up and I'm sure his original rescuer will be happy to use that money for transport or greatest need.
