About Edgar

One look at Edgar's smiling face and it's hard not to smile along with him! Edgar is a fun and active 1-2 yr old terrier mix (best guess is dandie dinmont terrier and/or sealyham terrier mix. So basically, he is a very cute mutt) who loves toys, people and having fun. Edgar recently joined us from a local shelter where he was scheduled for euthanasia because he had some problems adjusting to shelter life and was acting out. In fact his euthanasia timestamp came and went when we decided to take a chance and save him. Boy are we glad we did! Edgar is really nothing but a misunderstood unruly teenager who likely has not had the benefit of some training and rules and likes to have things his own way....but hey don't we all! Edgar would greatly benefit from a family who will be consistent with him and set boundaries and use lots of postivie reinforcement to show him how fun listening can actually be! He may be best in a home without very young children at the moment, since he can be reactive to certain handling he doesn't appreciate, like being put in a crate, likes to claim beds, and has a tendency to try and play tug of war with his leash, all of which he needs some work with, as well as basic training and manners. Edgar is doing well with the other dogs, although they don't all love his forward approach but could possibly live with another dog tolerant of his antics. He was recently neutered, which we are hoping helps calm him down and stop some of his humping tendencies (sorry to embarrass you Edgar, but people deserve to know!). He is up to date on basic vet care including vaccinations, and is microchipped and tested heartworm negative.
