About Pinball (fka Triton)

Rottweiler mix
Age: Young Adult
Sex: Male

[Read About Natural Incontinence Care] Pinball (who used to be called Triton) is my special-needs foster dog, from AHAN.org. He is a 5-ish year old Rottweiler / Taiwan Dog (Formosan Mountain Dog) mix. He is seriously one of the sweetest, lovingest, happiest dogs I have ever met - and I've met a lot of dogs! Pinball was beaten with a pipe while he was in Taiwan, and he has a permanent L4-L5 spinal injury. He has no sensation to most of his back legs or tail. It affects his coordination a little bit, but if you've seen him at the dog-park, you wouldn't know! He runs, jumps for his ball, goes in the water, climbs the rocks, and plays with the other dogs like there's nothing wrong with him. There is one thing that is making it hard to find him a home. His bladder / bowels are partly in the 'no feeling' section of his body. He is 95% house trained with a doggie door - he DOES know when he needs to potty, there's just little warning and he has to get right out the door. The main issue, and honestly it's not much of an issue, is that he dribbles pee when he's excited. I didn't want to take him as a foster at first, because I thought it'd be a big problem, but it's really not. There are a bunch of different ways it can be managed, and none of them are that big of a deal. The bottom line is: My house does NOT smell like dog-pee, he hasn't ruined any rugs or carpets, and there are not stains all over the place. There has to be someone who wants to give this sweet boy a forever home! He is in the SF Bay Area. For the right family, we would definitely consider transportation out of the area.
