About Dahlia

Adoption Fee: $175
Siamese
Age: Young Adult
Sex: Female

Dahlia is approximately 3 years. She is a very lovely and unique tortoiseshell Siamese. If you're looking for a truly unique cat in both looks and purrsonality, look no further, you've found her. Dahlia is unique from the tip of her nose to the tip of her tail. She will make you smile as soon as you see her adorable, round goofy face (I've never seen a Siamese kitty with such a round face before) and blue crossed eyes. Her beautiful soft fur coat is made of varying shades of cream, brown, black, and white. Plus she has six toes, that have speckled toe beans, and make her paws look like cute cream baseball mitts. You can always tell where she is walking because of her perfectly straight black tail that is tipped white, as if she stuck it in paint, which I call her flame tip. Dahlia also has the quirky habit of hissing at you when she first meets people instead of meowing but not as an act of aggression. She can't help being sassy considering: 1) she's a tortoiseshell, so you have tortitude; 2) she's a Siamese which means she has plenty of opinions; and lastly, she's a princess'|need I say more? Given the chance, Dahlia would be more then willing to tell you her story, if only we understood meows and chirps. She came into foster care and my home after a short stint in the Marin Humane Society. She had been dropped off at the shelter after her owners moved to Canada. Dahlia had been with them since she was a eight week old feral kitten. Living in an apartment with a little outdoor patio meant Dahlia was able to go outside if monitored. I was also told about Dahlia's purrsonality but it seems drastically different from the one that I have come to know. Before she came to me I was told how independent and sassy Dahlia could be. That she wasn't into cuddling or being petted and would rather spend time in a room near you but not too close (which definitely means not being your lap kitty). Now the difference in purrsonalities that I've seen could be because of me being a 'cat whisperer' who has the incredible ability to speak fluent cat and enjoys a cat's free spirited nature. But I'm going with it probably being more to do with the fact that Dahlia just needed to be better understood. The cat I have come to know is the biggest love ever. Any time you enter her room she comes running up and chirps at you while rubbing through your legs. As soon as you sit down she is up next to you wanting to be petted and loved on. When you take a nap she is right next to you, on her back and snuggled into your side. If you ignore her for to long she'll pat you on the shoulder or neck and meow as she drops into your lap. Dahlia loves playing with catnip toys or balls of paper/scraps of candy wrappers but is not as in to feather on a wand toys as other cats are. She loves looking out the window especially if birds or flies are involved. Then she gets tense, wags her tail back and forth and starts chirping at the birds or a fly. If I was a fly I would steer clear of Miss Dahlia, with her baseball mitts, she has a bigger advantage to catching and killing the flies. Dahlia was even kind enough to leave me a gift of her first fly on the couch where I sit. And man does she love being brushed!!! She gets so into the grooming that she'll try gnawing on the brush at the same time. Dahlia loves her treats and treats are a great way to start to win her over. One of my first experiences of Dahlia's extreme love of treats was soon after she arrived. I was trying to win her over and figured it couldn't hurt to try a bribe of Temptations. I shook that container and you should have seen how fast she flew out from under the couch. Made me laugh so hard!!
