About Wolverine

Siberian Husky mix
Age: Adult
Sex: Male

Must re-home my 7-yr male, neutered husky to location in OR near Lewes Beach, Delaware (so 'Aunt Nicole' could visit!). My beautiful, wooly 'baby' boy recently bit another dog {didn't have a muzzle on him}, so I have to re-home him... not by choice. Vet thinks he's 7, & came to me indirectly from being found on the streets of SC more than 3 years ago. He does NOT 'talk,' just makes noise if complaining; otherwise is totally quiet if happy, sad, and content, bored, etc. He whines, growls, grumbles, etc but not a talker! He's very social (accept affection from almost everyone), and loves kids and all people, nearly all of the time! He would LOVE to run around inside a fenced-in yard for safe games of fetch, etc. About kids: They should be mature enough [i.e. older ones, such as pre-teens/ tweens and Up. This is] so adults can explain how to handle and deal with him. He needs certain areas to be brushed when standing to tolerate it better, for example. I don't have a yard, so if we play fetch it's going to be at the local dog park. Current 'pals' are a beagle named Emma; a pug living in C.A. called Nero; 2 neighborhood sister huskies named Marishka and Sasha; a medium giddy golden guy named Jimmy (dog park); and a possible local all-black Belgian Sheepdog/ all-black male GSD mix named Eddie. He has shown he might do well with fellow huskies, but really should be the ONLY animal in the home. NO CATS, ever! In public, though, rest assured that he's gone up to 1-yr-old's (with permission), and been an Angel. He's just a very EASILY NERVOUS dog that a friend of the prior owner found on the streets of SC! Must always be assessing his vocalization history (only sounds if complaining, otherwise always quiet), which is often more accurate than heeding his body language if smiling at the same time. He actually has improved since I've known him, as just seeing another dog across the street on our walks used to result in hysterical leaps and twists like a professional gymnast! I love him despite all the scares he's put me through over the last 3 years, so I would prefer he goes to someone in my county, close enough to visit from 19958! He walks nicely by my side, which took forever; and knows 'sit, stay, come, give paw' etc. Being a husky, he may not listen often if he doesn't know what's in it for him! LOVES car rides limited to about a half hour (will howl for bathroom break); ESPECIALLY if he can go WITH you into stores or elsewhere. Is/Was crate-trained, but being a super nervous dog (see all of the above), he won't stay in the crate anymore since late last Summer or early Fall, 2017. He thinks he has to go 'do his business' 24/7. He'll go in the crate voluntarily, but don't lock it! He does NOT try 'destroying' things if left alone for awhile to roam freely in the home, whether day or night; and won't eat food that's not his/ not served to him. Still, always a good idea not to leave anything at his eye level, or he'll eat it if it's on the passenger seat of the car... if he's hungry [but not if on the floor of the car BELOW the passenger seat, LOL! Oh, and he does NOT like any vegetables long-term]. Has never had accidents anywhere, except for within 24-48 hrs after a teeth-cleaning, IF he doesn't get an anti-nausea drug during the procedure. Current on vaccinations, and by that I mean rabies and titer-testing for the others. LOVES being my bike-riding side-kick, and volunteering at a senior living facility! Please PROVIDE CHARACTER AND PROFESSIONAL REFERENCES, such as the name and phone number of a veterinarian you have used.
