About Lilly

Adoption Fee: $150
Staffordshire Bull Terrier
Age: Senior
Sex: Female

Lilly is an older Staffordshire Bull Terrier and she needs a safe and loving home. Although she is currently living with me, she is technically not my dog. She belonged to my oldest son since she was a puppy. However, when he got married and moved out of state a couple of years ago my ex-husband adopted her. About a year later there was an incident with a neighbor's dog and in the scuffle to break the dogs apart, Lilly nipped the other dog's owner. I don't believe she broke the skin but it was enough to cause my ex-husband to call my younger son to come and pick her up. He just dumped her on me never asking permission or offering any assistance in her care or finding her a suitable home. To my knowledge Lilly was never adequately socialized and although quite gentle and loving in our home and with those she knows well, she can be territorial and aggressive to strangers, small children, or other animals. Although there is a cat in our home that she seems to have no issues with, I still try to avoid any situations that could result in a dispute between the two. Actually, the cat is the aggressor in their dynamic and Lilly has to be placed in her kennel/cage when the cat acts 'bi-polar' as the outcome wouldn't fare well for miss kitty should an altercation ensue. I work and I am away from home from 6am to about 6pm Monday through Friday and Lilly is forced to stay in her kennel for sometimes more than 12 hours a day. I sometimes have to travel out of town and this creates quite a hardship in ensuring she is looked after and cared for during my absence. This is not the optimal situation or environment that any animal needs or deserves. I would love to locate her a safe and loving home where she can live out the rest of her days! I believe she is about 10-11 years old and would thrive in a home where there are no small children or other animals, and a nice big fenced back yard!
