Butterbean is fostered in Sarasota, FL (Sarasota County). We are a foster-based rescue and always looking for foster families! Butterbean is a playful, energetic 2-year-old Australian cattle dog mix, likely with some kind of terrier. At 26 lbs she is quite petite. She was originally pulled from a shelter in Georgia having just had a litter of puppies, and we took her on after the rescue she was with was shut down. She is a fun-loving girl but still has the tendency to occasionally spook with unfamiliar experiences. She does not seem comfortable around canes and as such would not be suitable for therapy work. We think with the right training she would be a great little sports dog - lure coursing, disc, flyball and dock diving would likely all be within her grasp with the right handler. She has excellent toy drive and is quite intelligent and agile. She is very playful and will lure other dogs who are not necessarily playful to engage with her. Her foster parents frequently dogsit a dog of comparable size and energy and it is a match made in heaven for Butterbean! At the end of the day she is fully capable of settling in and cuddling. This dog will make someone a wonderful companion, but will definitely need regular activity to keep her busy mind content. A fenced yard is a must. Butterbean is mostly housebroken but will sometimes need to go potty on a puppy pad out on the pool deck at her foster home. Butterbean is spayed, up-to-date on vaccines and preventives, microchipped and heartworm negative.
