About Ellie

Schnauzer / Airedale
Age: Young Adult
Sex: Female

Whenever a sweet Schnauzer or Terrier mix gets into an urgent situation, Farfel's rescuers like to help. We find that dogs of these breed mixes are generally very loving and intelligent. They also fit well into a family.. making great companions and the ultimate house dogs. Sometimes rescue dogs are initially a bit shy....but put them in a home with a loving family and frequent socialization...and they will shine. Ellie is just about a year old (such a great age - young enough to be a blank slate soaking up new skills while being mature enough to have left her puppyish ways behind). Ellie weighs 48 lbs..a perfect size for hiking, snowshoeing, neighborhood walks and backyard fun... and then at day's end Ellie will love nothing more then to gently cuddle next to you on the couch (or bed) and express her love with her loyalty and sweetness. Ellie's great Texas rescuer sent the following report about sweet Ellie: I was the lucky one that fostered Ellie and loved her up prior to her journey to Colorado. Let me start off by saying she is a doll! She is such a loving and sweet cuddle bug! Ellie was extremely gentle and sweet with my 2 kids..11 and 14. I have 3 personal small dogs and Ellie did great with them as well. She loved to curl up close beside us on the couch to watch movies or just to snuggle. Ellie slept in our bed and had no issues at all. She actually slept like a log all night!. I will cry like a baby when I drop her off for transport to Colorado but know that she will be in good hands with Farfel's! Ellie has inherited the superior intelligence of the Terrier breeds along with the cuddly sweetness of the Schnauzer.. If Ellie is trained with positive reinforcement, given tons of love, socialization with both humans of all ages and other dogs...she will grow into a self-confident girl who will be a wonderful companion. She has all the elements working in her favor since she's starting out with a great temperament, a love of life and a desire to please. We'd like to place Ellie in a home with either active retirees or a younger family with dog-crazy older kids who love spending lots of time with a fuzzy and devoted family member. Ellie will shine for a family who is motivated to take her to group obedience classes to bring out all the wonderful qualities and loyalty that live inside this incredibly cute and scruffy Terrier/Schnauzer mix. Ellie will love long walks, window-shopping on Pearl Street to fine-tune her urban skills and being a very present companion all through the day. With feelings of security within the family, Ellie will learn the skills of being alone and knowing her family will aways return. Ellie appears to be either a non-shedding or lightly shedding dog although it's difficult to tell for certain until her shelter-weary coat grows out. She will require a commitment to periodic grooming and great nutrition (a salmon oil supplement is a great choice for longevity as well as coat care) to keep her scruffy coat healthy and matt-free. We've requested that Ellie be fixed prior to her transport to Colorado. We're not optimistic that this will occur due to too many dogs and not enough vets in this industrial area of Texas. If it does not, Farfel's is happy to cover all costs for Ellie's spay and microchip if our Denver vet is used. Elly will be arriving on transport in Boulder on Saturday 6/30/18. Applications are currently being accepted for this sweet and very devoted best friend and can be found at http://farfels.com/farfels-rescue/adoption-form/. If interested please fill out completely and submit. **PLEASE NOTE** If you're truly interested in adopting Elly. please be sure to fill out our adoption application. It's the only initial tool that we have to determine a great match for this very deserving girl. We're sorry, but in most circumstances, we're unable to get back to those that don't submit an adoption application. Thanks so much for choosing rescue.
