About Cedar-ADOPTION PENDING

Papillon / Maltese
Age: Young Adult
Sex: Male

It's difficult to imagine this truly beautiful (inside and out) Papillon/Maltese mix in a high-kill shelter in Texas. A compassionate Farfel's rescuer saved Cedar's life and nursed his body and spirit back to joy and well-being. It's now getting to the time when Cedar is ready to be transported to his new life in Colorado. Although it will be terribly hard for Cedar's rescuer mom to say goodbye...she knows that he will have a great life. The following is a description of Cedar by his rescuer: --Cedar is such a sweet guy who is blossoming. I've enjoyed watching him learn that the world can be a loving and positive place. Cedar had a hard start - but now he's learning about treats, belly rubs and that he's a very valuable pup! He may very well be initially shy or frightened, but just give him a bit of time and you'll have a new best friend. Cedar is very social and loves to run and play outside...he has exactly the appropriate amount of energy for a 2.5 year old, 10 lb healthy pup. Cedar would do well with a family who is home a lot to hang out with, take neighborhood walks (perfect for this very social guy) play in the yard and run freely at the park - he would love all this fun!! After he's had exercise and stimulation, he's ready to chill on the couch..or on his favorite person's lap is awesome! Cedar loves to snuggle, be petted and has been said to not get overly grumpy about grooming..we'll let you know since he desperately needs a spa day. Cedar's potentially gorgeous, cottony-soft hair will require care...a commitment to periodic grooming and great nutrition (a daily lifelong salmon oil supplement is suggested for longevity and coat care) will be perfect to keep his coat shining and very soft. Cedar appears to be fine with other dogs but appreciates those that are respectful of his smaller size. He has been great with my 14 and 15 year old daughters, although I haven't seen him around very young kids, so that's an unknown. He's excellent with my mom, but might be a bit energetic and fun-loving for a very advanced senior. Cedar is a truly smart pup - true to his breeds!! What a gem of a best friend for a family who wants to include a very sweet and kind dog in their lives. He will be be a truly loving and fun.. as well as very loyal companion. Farfel's is very excited to participate in finding this special Papillon mix his forever family. Cedar won't be neutered when he arrives in Boulder - while we request it, there just aren't enough vets to cover the needs of the vast number of homeless dogs in this small city in Texas. Farfel's is happy to cover all costs for Cedar's neuter and microchip after his arrival in Colorado if our Denver vet is used. Cedar will be arriving on transport in Denver on Saturday 6/30/18. Applications are currently being accepted for this sweet and cuddly best friend. An application can be found at http://farfels.com/farfels-rescue/adoption-form/. If interested, please fill out completely and submit. **PLEASE NOTE** If you're truly interested in adopting Cedar, please be sure to fill out our adoption application. It's the only initial tool that we have to determine a great match for this very deserving guy. We're sorry, but in most cases, we're unable to get back to those that don't submit an adoption application. Thanks so much for choosing rescue.
