About Odessa

Rhodesian Ridgeback / Mastiff
Age: Adult
Sex: Female

Oh my, Odessa! This gorgeous girl is in search of the perfect family to call her own. Here are 10 things that Ms. O wants her new home to know about her: 1. My life before rescue was THE PITS! My old owners made me live outside and almost never fed me. I never went to the veterinarian, even though they made me have lots of puppies. One day, a neighbor called the dog police and thankfully they came and picked me up. I was at the shelter for a little while before a nice lady brought me to The Bullpen. 2. I am about five years old. Because I am so beautiful and unusual looking, my mom got me a DNA test and we learned that I am half Cane Corso and half Rhodesian Ridgeback. 3. I was very VERY skinny when I came to rescue. I was so weak that I could barely walk and I spent a lot of time sleeping and resting in my crate. Since my foster mom put me on a 'cruise diet' (I got to eat all kinds of delicious food, whenever I wanted), I've gained 30lbs and am feeling so much better! 4. When I was still at the shelter, the staff tested me with some dogs, and I did great. However, because of my condition, I haven't been able to interact much with the big dogs here at The Bullpen. I think I would like to live in a home with an easy-going big male dog, but I wouldn't mind being an only pet either. 5. I used to pretend that I was afraid of cats. Now that I'm feeling better, I like to chase them every chance I get. I'm definitely not fast enough to catch one, but it doesn't stop me from trying, so I think that my best home would be feline-free. 5. I am very sweet and affectionate and I love to be around humans. I am an extremely mellow girl and would happily sit quietly with you while you make dinner or watch TV and gaze adoringly in your direction with my big brown eyes. 6. Here are some of the things that I love the most: hot dogs, going on slow walks, being loved on by humans, and snoozing. 7. I really enjoy the quiet, peaceful environment here at the sanctuary, and would be very happy to find a home that wasn't too loud or busy. I think I could live in a home with children over 10, as long as they pet me gently and let me snuggle them, and weren't too loud or rambunctious. 8. I am housebroken and crate trained, and very well behaved in the house. My foster mom lets me sleep in her room sometimes, and I always go straight to the dog bed and settle in until the morning. 9. I am current on vaccinations, microchipped, and spayed. 10. I have started heartworm treatment, and will come with all the medicine needed to complete it at my new home. Ready to give Odessa the forever home of her dreams? Fill out our Adoption Application, located at www.bullpenrescue.org under the 'work with us' tab. **We highly recommend that our potential adopters fill out an online application as soon as possible, as it greatly expedites the process of finding the right dog for your situation. Our dogs are available for adoption nationwide but preference is given to adopters willing to do an in-person meeting. Please understand that our dogs are not adopted on a first-come, first-serve basis, but rather we strive for a 'perfect placement' so we know that they will not be failed again.**
