About River

Neapolitan Mastiff
Age: Young Adult
Sex: Female

Get ready for River! Here are 10 things that this sweet pup wants her new home to know: 1. I am about 2 years old, and I am a lovely tawny Neapolitan Mastiff. 2. I CAN'T GO TO A HOME THAT HASN'T HAD NEOS BEFORE. It's super important that my forever family understands me, and why I do the things that I do. The people at the Bullpen are very serious about this, and will not consider applications without proper experience. 3. Like most Neos, I can be wary of strangers and need slow and proper introductions to new people. A home with frequent visitors or lots of coming and going is not the right place for me. 4. I don't enjoy loud noises or a lot of commotion. I think my ideal home would be more on the quiet and calm side, which means that I'm not a good fit for families with children. I might be able to cohabitate with young adults that were 16 or older, as long as they weren't too rowdy. 5. I'm a big fan of getting ALL of the attention so a home with no other pets would be the best. 6. I generally ignore all the barn cats at the farm, so I might be able to live with a feline. However, I haven't spent very much time around smaller dogs, so I'm not sure I'd like living with a dog that weighed less than 60lbs. 7. I may look big and tough, but really I'm kind of insecure. Even when I find my new family I may act stand-offish at first, but if you'll let me have my space and some time to build trust, I promise we'll be best friends forever. 8. Here are some of the things I love most: long walks, playing with toys, riding in cars, and taking naps. 9. I am housebroken, crate-trained, and good on a leash. I know basic obedience, but true to my neo-self, I am also stubborn and will pretend like I forgot. 10. I am current on vaccinations, microchipped, heartworm negative, and spayed. Ready to give River the forever home of her dreams? Fill out our Adoption Application, located at bullpenrescue.org under the 'work with us' tab. We highly recommend that our potential adopters fill out an online application as soon as possible, as it greatly expedites the process of finding the right dog for your situation. Our dogs are available for adoption nationwide but preference is given to adopters willing to do an in-person meeting. Please understand that our dogs are not adopted on a first-come, first-serve basis, but rather we strive for a 'perfect placement' so we know that they will not be failed again.
