Pongo is very much a yorkie, though he is half maltese. He would do best in a home that understands the yorkie temperament and habits, both good and bad. He currently lives with his family of 2 adults and 3 children. He would do best in a home with children older than 10 as he can't be trusted with younger children. Pongo is actually very loving and wants to be with his people all the time. He does not have separation anxiety, but he is highly dog reactive. He currently lives with a 35# border collie/poodle mix, but sometimes gets angry with him and bites him. He would be happiest as the only dog, but could certainly live with another small dog. He barks and lunges at other dogs on leash, even if they are pretty far away. He also barks at people walking by the house, and will bark at everything when he's in the car. We have him on Clomicalm, an antianxiety drug, to help with his nervous energy. Often he will just sleep on the couch by my side, but when he is 'on guard', he paces nervously around the house. He does have potty accidents in the house. He would do much better with a doggy door, but we can't have one at our house. I sometimes put a belly band on him when we leave home. He has a luxating patella that doesn't bother him very much. He recently had a full dental and vet check where all of his vaccines were updated. He has had extensive obedience training at a board and train facility, but as a yorkie, he will often make his own decisions. I would love Pongo to find a home that enjoys yorkies and really understands their quirks.
