About Meilanie

Meet Meilani! A shelter volunteer group in Northeast Texas was contacted about a stray puppy with some injuries to her leg/eye in need. The finder was instructed to take the puppy to a local vet for evaluation. Once evaluated, it was determined that due to the damage, exposure and current status of the injury, her best option was amputation of the leg. The foot was degloved and almost completely severed from the leg. It was covered in fly eggs with maggots present. So, at the young age of approx 6wks, Meilani underwent a full amputation of her front left leg. She also had damage to her left eye which had to be removed on 7/7/2018. This spunky little gal isn't going to let any of that get her down though! She has a great attitude, loves to be cuddled and has a ravenous appetite!!! She is now house and crate trained and does great with other animals and kids. We're not completely sure of her breed, but she is colored like a red/rust Doberman.
