About Delilah

Courtesy Post - This beautiful girl is Delilah, a 5 yr young Boxer. She currently has a wonderful mom who sadly realizes that Delilah needs more than she can give her. We are hoping to help her find the perfect forever home for a dog that certainly deserves to have a wonderful life. Delilah's story - 'I am seeking to rehome my beautiful 5 year old Boxer, Delilah. She is an amazing dog, but I am unable to provide the resources she needs to live a happy life. I adopted Delilah in October 2015 from the Humane Society. I lived in rural North Carolina at the time of adoption and had help caring for her. In the last year, I've moved to DC for work-so it's just me and Delilah now. Unfortunately, being in the city has caused her to develop some leash-aggressive issues toward other dogs and, more recently, overall general aggression toward other dogs. We've been working with a trainer, but things have continued to spiral. I was determined to keep pushing, until a few weekends ago when I was out of town for business. It turns out, Delilah still loves some other dogs-she was introduced to three dogs while staying at her caretaker's home, all of whom became her best friends. She ended up having the time of her life, showing her playful puppy side that I haven't seen in over a year, and retreated into what appeared to be a depressive state when we left. I just don't have the time or resources to get her the help she needs, but I want for her to find a home where she can be as happy as she was that weekend all the time. She is an amazing and intelligent girl-one of the happiest dogs I've ever met, who loves humans and children endlessly. She deserves to have a home with another dog whom she can trust and befriend. And she needs a fenced in back yard where she can be free to roam outside, without endangering herself or others. I believe the perfect home must be out there for her.' Delilah is spayed and up to date on vaccines. She appears to react more positively to male dogs than female dogs.
