About Feather

Adoption Fee: 175
Maine Coon / Domestic Cat
Age: Adult
Sex: Female

Here is the story about this stunning looking Calico girl whose caretaker named her Feather because that is about how much she weighed when they rescued her. She was an abandoned or stray cat, not feral. Her caretaker came to this conclusion because she knows what a bag of treats is...she will meow and follow you around if it looks like you are going to open a bag of treats. A feral cat wouldn't know that. Also, she is very much a house cat and likes to be inside the home rather than being kept outside. Our organization always advocates for kitties to be inside only due to the many dangers that lurk outside. When they rescued Feather she was emaciated and had a very bad respiratory/eye infection. They gave her antibiotics and got that issue cleared up. She weighed around 5.5 pounds (she is now ~ 9 pounds). They kept her alone in a bedroom while she recovered; separate from the other cats and feeding her as much as she would eat. She is in good health now. The reason they cannot keep her is because it she needs to be an only cat. She is very jealous and aggressive with cats in the same home she occupies and will actively try to chase them out. Since they already have resident cats when they rescued her, they contacted our organization to help find a loving home for this lovely feline. Feather is a very loving cat and accepting of people. Once she feels at home, she should be a great cat. She would be an awesome cat for people who only want one cat, and who treasure a cat that is devoted to them and likes to be petted. Feather loves to lie on your tummy and enjoys being touched and petted all over her soft furry body. She prefers a stomach/chest over a lap. That's a cat for you...they make their own rules! Her caretaker remarks how beautiful she is with her very interesting coloration with whispy fur and huge front paws. In a nutshell, Feather is very 'people-centric' and physically beautiful. Her caretaker doesn't have children, so we don't know how she would be with small children. We don't know about dogs either, but we definitely know that she will need to be the only feline in the home.
