Whenever a sweet and engaging Terrier or Poodle mix gets into an urgent situation, Farfel's rescuers like to help. We find that dogs of this breed mix are engaging, smart and make great family companions. They fit so well into a household and make excellent and very loyal best friends. Kiwi is one of these cuddly and very sweet Terriers/Poodle mixes. The New Mexico vets identified Kiwi as this breed mix based on general look, body structure and personality..whatever her mix, Kiwi is an engaging (once comfortable in her surroundings),very loving and very silly and entertaining girl. Kiwi is so sweet in her enthusiasm for all people that are kind to her. As you can see in her photo, Kiwi has dark and expressive eyes (with so much wisdom) that speak of sensitivity with underlying sweetness and fun. Once comfortable in her environment, Kiwi exhibits a love of life that knows no bounds. Wherever this joyful baby goes, she brings her positive attitude and fun-loving (occasionally mischievous) energy along with her. Sometimes rescue dogs are initially a bit shy....but put them into a home with a loving family that provides frequent socialization, nurturing, love and belly rubs.. and they will shine. Kiwi is one of these pups...she's a blank slate just waiting for the commitment of a great family. Her love will know no bounds as she becomes a best friend and the greatest lap dog ever. Kiwi is such a great age and size... at just about 1.5 years old (a perfect age - young enough to be open to new and wonderful possibilities in her life.. yet old enough to have left babyish behaviors behind) and weighs 10 lbs (perfect size to accompany her people anywhere a sweet and social pup is welcome). Kiwi has a beautiful, non-shedding coat that is in line with her breed mix. She will therefore require a commitment to periodic grooming and great nutrition (a daily salmon oil supplement is recommended for longevity and coat care) to keep her stunning silver coat cottony-soft and matt-free. We envision Kiwi (due to her tiny size) with retirees or a family with older and very gentle kids. Kiwi is a girl who will respond to to very kind handling and time spent together. She would be overjoyed with a family that spends lots of time at home and would therefore be a great fit for active retirees or a younger family that works from home or can bring a sweet, smaller pup to a dog-friendly workplace. Kiwi won't be spayed when she arrives in Denver - while we request it, there just aren't enough vets to cover the needs of the vast number of homeless dogs in this part of New Mexico. Farfel's is happy to cover all costs for Kiwi's spay and microchip after her arrival in Colorado if our Denver vet is used. Kiwi will be arriving on transport in Denver on Saturday 6/23/18.
