About Blue and gold macaw

I rescued this beautiful boy several years ago from a very abusive home. He has trust issues but will bond with his person deeply with patients. It only took me a month for him to be my best friend. He is more excepting of females. Not good with little kids. Sticks and brooms and larger objects moved unexpectedly triggers bad memories for him. And he will react. He has never bitten me but has lunged at other people when they get too close to his cage or perch. He can be cage aggressive but that's typical for this breed of bird. They are territorial. I moved here from Montana a month ago and he is not handling the transition well. I have a one-year-old grandson and two-year-old granddaughter that visit regularly and then crying sets him off. He needs a home where he can be the center of attention. I am out of the house for 12 or more hours a day and it is having an effect on him. I prefer somebody that has knowledge of his breed and animals that have traumatic past. I have had several people talk to me but after a few weeks they quit answering your phone. Please do not respond if you were not serious about providing a forever home for this beautiful baby. He's not to be used for breeding and I will ask a contract to be signed but if you can't keep him he is to be returned to me. Serious inquiries only please. My voicemail on my phone doesn't always work so texting is the better option if interested. I will be returning to Montana in a couple of weeks due to my dad's health.
