About Delilah

Adoption Fee: $150
Collie / German Shepherd
Age: Puppy
Sex: Female

Delilah came from the shelter in Chowchilla. She had no chance. When I saw the first picture of her, her legs were splayed out, she was on her belly, like Bambi on ice. This is actually the kind of dog I like. The changes are awesome to watch as they begin to take place. And that's what has happened here. Delilah is more than dog social. And that helped me a lot in getting her to this point. She sees the other dogs and the affection and attention they get, and she's pretty curious about it now. In the van she comes up in between the two front seats, nuzzles my head and licks my face, and I can't stop her because it's such progress! For some reason the car seems to be the place she feels most at ease. I did teach Delilah to walk on a leash, with either the collar, or harness. And she's a feather, perfect on the leash. She's also great off leash. But we definitely got leash walking down first. Now she has the privilege of running free with the pack, and she's the best one when it comes to coming to my whistle. And it's a good thing she's whistle trained, it's saved her once already. Delilah needs to go to a home with another dog! I really want to emphasize this. I've gotten many applications on her from people with no other dog. If you saw the way she bonds with another dog, you'd know what I'm talking about. She just loves to have dog friends. I've never seen her in an altercation, she's just thrilled to be around other dogs. Delilah is House broken, she'll use the dog door, or she'll wait. She's very good in the house, sleeps on a dog bed. However if she doesn't have another dog to set a good example, she might get one of your slippers. So you have to pick your stuff up. But remember she's still very young, I consider her still a puppy until she's at least two. Delilah's about as much fun as you can have on the pack walk. She loves to explore and then run back and check in with you. She also loves the water. She will chase deer or rabbits, but she comes back to whistle or her name. But for this reason I don't think she's a good candidate for a household with cats either. If you think you'd like to get to know this sweet girl, shoot me an email!
