About Poppy

Adoption Fee: $300
Australian Cattle Dog / Rat Terrier
Age: Young Adult
Sex: Female

Poppy is available for foster or adoption. We are a foster-based rescue and always looking for foster families! Poppy is currently fostered in Tampa, FL (Hillsborough County). Poppy is a sweet cattle dog mix who was turned over to us because her owner has a terminal illness. She is 3-4 years old and shy of 40 lbs. She grew up with cats, other dogs and children, but does require a home without kids as she is showing signs of stress around them. She knows basic commands and is very obedient. She has great manners and asks for permission before going on furniture. She loves to run and play with toys. She doesn't like to share toys all the time, but no guarding has been observed with toys or food. She is, for the most part, a couch potato and can be left alone in the house. We still recommend making a crate available to her. She likes to just be with people and is happy to go with you where you're going. So if you're just hanging out at home then she is happy to nap, but if you want to go for a walk then she is all for it and will sit patiently for you to clip her leash on. She would do well with just one person or a family. She is very go with the flow and doesn't seem to want to disrupt anything. Her foster describes Poppy as practically perfect and possibly the easiest dog she has ever had, definitely the easiest foster! She is a sweet girl who allows grooming and having her nails done. She walks very well on lead and is housebroken. Poppy is very well socialized. She would be a great dog to take with you to events, on car rides or trips, dog-friendly restaurants, etc. If you are looking for an easygoing, low maintenance companion, this would be your girl. Poppy is spayed, up-to-date on vaccines and preventives, microchipped and heartworm negative.
