About Becky(RM)

Adoption Fee: $25
Border Collie / Lab
Age: Adult
Sex: Female

Meet Becky Becky's situation is truly heartbreaking. Surrendered to our shelter on January 3, 2018 after her owner passed away, Becky has lived for more than a year hoping against hope that someone will love her again. As if losing the only person who's ever loved you isn't enough, Becky's had to grieve in the cold confines of a shelter because the family she thought might take her in couldn't be bothered. Becky is 8.3 years old now and her time and toil in the shelter is taking a toll on her. Over the past several weeks Becky has been showing signs of depression. This may be because her favorite volunteers can no longer visit her or maybe it's because she knows no one is coming to take her home. We're not sure, but we know Becky is hurting. Where she once eagerly stood at her kennel door with her tennis ball, hopeful for a game of fetch, Becky's eyes have lost their shine and worse'|their hope. She seems resigned that her day won't come and she'll never know what it's like to feel safe and loved in a home and experience the cozy companionship of her own person. It's such a shame because Becky is a lovely dog. She is thought to be a Shar-pei mixed with Border collie or cattle dog. She weighs 63 pounds, but given her inactivity she is sporting a little extra girth. Becky loves nothing better than to play fetch. If you're game, she'll play all day. Her manners are wonderful and unassuming. In fetch she drops the ball at your feet and when walking she doesn't pull and isn't bothered by other dogs, cats or squirrels. Becky, however, doesn't like to live with other dogs and unfortunately for her several meet and greets have gone poorly. Becky also doesn't like cats as companions. For our Becky, she'll need to be an only dog. But if that's not an issue for her adopters, Becky will be a terrific companion because she loves, loves, loves people and children. She is a regal girl and conducts herself calmly and with dignity. When Becky arrived she was house-trained. Time in the kennel may have changed that, but with a little retraining and patience she'll quickly relearn. She's incredibly smart and wants to please. Becky has so much love and life to give. It's our greatest hope that someone will see this wonderful girl and give her a chance to be a forever companion. For those who open their heart and home for Becky, you will be richly rewarded. Come meet our Becky. Perhaps you'll be the one to bring her sparkle back. Becky is spayed, fully vetted and microchipped.
