About Niki

Adoption Fee: $300.00
Boxer mix
Age: Puppy
Sex: Female

Spring has sprung in Vermont and with it the possibility of long walks along shady tree-lined country lanes and resting in a comfortable spot outdoors while simply soaking up the sun, return. Niki is fond of both. Niki is a 35lb 2-years & 9-months old female Boxer mix. She is spayed, vaccinated and micro-chipped. When outside, Niki is very interested in things that move . . . like squirrels and chipmunks. And she would probably give chase if the opportunity presented itself. She does not live with cats, and given her desire to chase, she may not be the best match for a household with them. Niki is affectionate, eager to please and well-behaved. She knowsSit and Off. When walking, she wears Halti due to pulling. Niki is a smallish dog, just the right size for a child. And, it just so happens that Niki is very good with children. Niki loves curling up with her foster person's nine year-old grandson for pets and cuddles. Niki would love to live with a child of her own, full-time. Niki is generally well-mannered and agreeable with her fellow dog-mates and others that she meets when out and about. However, she is not interested in playing with other dogs and she will remind assertive dogs with a nip, if pushed too far. She does not want to share high-value treats, like bones. Niki is nearly housetrained-she seems to understand the concept, but hasn't figured out how to let her person know, when needs to go. Any 'accident,' she has had, has been right by the door, which is on the far opposite end of the house from the living areas where she and her people spend most of the time. And, she has greatly improved in this area. Niki is crated when home alone, and she is only vocal when her person first comes home and she is happy and excited to come out of her crate to greet her. Niki becomes more confident as she is given opportunities to socialize. Who knows, she may even decide that she likes to play with other dogs as much as she enjoys snuggling with children. We hope Niki finds her own place in the sun and child to grow up with, before springtime becomes summer.
