About Dilbert

Meet Dilbert, aka: Dilly-Bean, Booger, Silly Dilly, Doodles! Dilbert is a 35lb 1 year-old male Bassett-Hound, mixed with 'Awesomeness.' He is neutered, vaccinated and micro-chipped. Dilbert is affectionate, eager to please, joyful, playful, well-behaved, puppy-like . . . and awesome. Dilbert is a quick learner who aims to please. He has had a few accidents in the home, but is learning that outside is the place where you're supposed to do your business. He is learning to walk with a slip-lead and doing well. He knows: Sit and Wait. He has done really well with the Wait before eating his food. He will also Come when called in from the yard. He is also learning to keep all four feet on the ground when meeting new people-even though meeting new people is an effervescent experience that literally makes Dilbert want to jump for joy! Dilbert and stuffies do not mix-well, unless you want your stuffies de-stuffed-he's really good at that. But, if you give him a bone, he will chew that happily instead. He also loves to snuggle with his people . . . and it is impossible to resist his sweet velvety face. Dilbert is being fostered in a home with five other dogs. He has been good with all of them, but is on the dominant side so would probably not match well with another dominant male dog. After the precursory 'Proper-Introductions,' and monitoring playtime, he has done well and plays best with the female dogs. Dilbert loves to play hard. When he first arrived at his foster home, he was inexperienced in the art of play with other dogs and he could be a bit overbearing and mouthy, but he is doing much better with the coaching he has received from his human 'pack-leader' and the other canine members of the pack. Dilbert has been friendly with every person he has met-this boy knows no stranger. When Dilbert's foster person is out, he is crated. He is food-motivated, so all that is required is a special treat and he goes happily right in, without a peep of complaining. Dilbert is allergy prone, so he is fed a good-quality diet. Since switching to Taste of the Wild, High Prarie formula, he has had no skin issues. Dilbert's foster mom says, 'Dilly is a special silly boy. He has a gift of making people smile and laugh. I have fostered many dogs, and have only met a small handful of dogs that possess this special gift. He tries so hard to please his people, that it is impossible not to love him. I wish for him, a home that will truly understand and appreciate how lucky they are to have such a dog.'
