We bought Finn (purebred black lab) as a puppy from a breeder in North Texas (ROCKIN' B LABRADORS) almost two years ago. We have his registration papers and full shot records. He was born June 13, 2016, so he is now about 2 years old and fully grown (73lbs). He is a very fun-loving, happy and extremely smart dog who has a lot of energy and loves attention. He loves being around and close to his owners, and often gets lost in a great belly rub. He is eager to please and loves to play fetch and swim in the pool. Sadly, as much as we love this sweet boy, we are looking to re-home him because we are expecting our first child soon and Finn recently had an incident where he bit someone (leading to stitches on their lips and cheek) as they bent over and leaned into his crate to hug him. Finn was not very familiar with this person and had a snap reaction upon them invading the personal, safe space of his crate. Other than this one incident, Finn has never been aggressive. He gets along great with our other dog, with other people's dogs and with strangers alike. He instantly wants to play with anyone he meets. Finn is house trained, crate trained, and very good with several commands, such as sit, stay, and heel. He has had experience staying in his crate during the day and also sitting outside in our backyard all day while we're gone at work. Finn needs a loving owner who has experience with dogs and who has the time and energy to care for a young lab. Like most labs, Finn has a lot of energy and needs to be able to go on walks and/or play in the yard. I would not recommend adopting him to someone with young children because of the biting incident. Although I have no doubt that a responsible adult can safely handle Finn, as we would undoubtedly continue doing if we didn't have a child on the way, I wouldn't risk putting him in a house with young children who may not have the self-control and knowledge to avoid getting into his crate with him. Please don't hesitate to contact me if you would like to schedule a play date with Finn to see his fun-loving personality in person and see if he is the right fit for you.
