About Johnny

Australian Shepherd mix
Age: Adult
Sex: Male

We are in need of finding Johnny a foster ASAP. He is ready to be released from hospital and we can't afford to keep him in medical boarding indefinitely. We rescued him from the shelter's euthanasia list. Our boy was extremely ill, he wasn't eating, drinking or walking. When we rescued him we assumed he had an upper respiratory infection and/or valley fever. It turned out Johnny boy has herpes, which is totally treatable, and he is recovering from it, but he is deaf. He is ready for a home and some TLC! We think he's some kind of Aussie or perhaps Pointer or Rotti mix. He's on the smaller side of medium, at just 40 lbs. As far as we know, he is okay with dogs, but we would need to do a meet and greet to confirm compatibility. Please consider being a Foster or Forever Hero for Johnny, and showing him what love is all about. Special needs dogs are often overlooked because people are unsure they can handle them - but please know that these amazing creatures often compensate very well for their disabilities, and make the most amazing family members. http://2ndchance.rescuegroups.org/animals/detail?AnimalID=13130763
