About Omar

We are looking for a new home for dear Omar. Unfortunately, Omar is not suited for inner-city life so we seek a quieter location for Omar to move to. He is a 9-month old (DOB September 2017) Australian Shepherd-mix, weighing about 15kg. Omar is a rescue puppy from Greece (with us in Germany since February 2018) and comes with some special needs. He has environmental anxieties which are heightened in the city and is afraid of new people which either manifests in running away or non-aggressive barking. He currently lives in an apartment on a busy main road and is therefore unable to manage his fears without the extreme triggers and distractions as soon as he steps outside because it's such an overwhelmingly stressful environment for him. We have no doubt that Omar would be able to overcome his fears if he is gradually introduced to them in a quieter, slower location (e.g. suburbs or country). Omar is very attached and super friendly with his owners, once he learns to trust you (normally 36hrs!), adores cuddles and playtime and is quick to learn new tricks but he needs a dedicated owner with experience in rehabilitating anxious dogs to help him get over his fears beyond the house. He also suffers from separation anxiety. Omar is also quite afraid of children when approached on the street so he would do better in a child-free home. Though initially wary, Omar can and has learnt to travel in a car when confined to a travel crate. Omar adores meeting dogs, playing very nicely with them, and is submissive so he would work well being brought into a home with other dogs from whom he could seek guidance. He comes fully vaccinated and microchipped. He is housetrained and knows basic commands (in English, but he's a fast and eager learner!). He's currently living in Berlin.
