Lucas is an obese fellow who was VERY snarfy with our other 3 malamutes when we rescued. We had a couple of good fights! Now after less than 2 weeks of group walks, a bit of training and trust building, he is getting along with ALL of the other dogs very well. He has lost 4 pounds since he arrived, dropping from 124 pounds to 120, but he still needs to loose at least another 20. He does not like to be brushed, especially his hind-quarter and tail. He has learned from his previous owner that if he just sits, lays or does and alligator roll he won't get brushed. This led to his arriving here horribly matted. In less that 2 weeks we have built trust, and although he struggles a little bit he allows me to thoroughly brush him now, and although it's still a little bit of a wrestling match he even lets me do his rear-quarter and tail. All in all, in the hands of a committed, knowledgeable, Malamute handler he should settle into an amazing companion.
