About Dali

Adoption Fee: $85
Manx / Snowshoe
Age: Young Kitten
Sex: Male

Dali is a spring loaded tabby kitten with a bigger than life personality. He is quite full of himself and very confident. He is also a special needs kitten. Dali carries the gene that makes him a rumpy (no tail) distinctive of Manx heritage. He also carries a mutated gene which has given him just a touch of Manx Syndrome (MS). He is brother to MS sister Lexi. Manx Syndrome is a disorder of some Manx kitties which affects rear leg movement and can also create urinary/fecal issues. In the case of Dali, he has no fecal/urinary issues at this point and uses his litter box with a tidy walk away. He does have a bit of the wobbly hind leg but flies about the Kitten Room with speed and accuracy when about to trounce another kitten. His climbing skills are advancing but he does not have as much strength in his rear legs as normal kittens but he grows stronger each day. There are numerous articles online that will give interested adopters an understanding of the disorder, the potential symptoms and care measures required. Adopters will have access to a local adopter of a MS kitten who will offer support and suggestions for care. Her lovely boy is now 3 years old and had/has more advanced symptoms beginning in his kitten days. Adopters must be willing to provide regular veterinary care to stay current with his health and development. Adoption fee is $85. Dali is 13 weeks old as of June 11, 2018. Arrival date to the shelter was May 3, 2018. Questions about Dali can be addressed by calling 706-865-4135 and speaking with the people who provide his daily care. He has been dewormed and has age appropriate vaccines. Spay/neuter and rabies vaccine provided by our servicing vets when of appropriate age. If you can offer a safe indoor home, submit an application online or at the shelter should you come for a get acquainted visit. Application can be submitted online at: https://www.charlessmithgallhumanesociety.org/page/cat-adoption-application/ . As is the expectation with all animals adopted from our shelter, Dali must be returned to us if his adopters are unable to care for him. Several videos can be seen on his FB page at: https://www.facebook.com/smithgallhumanesociety/photos/a.708210152556587.1073741848.548822128495391/1979801705397419/?type=3&theater. The online form may generate a 'Fatal Error' message after submission which is to be ignored. It is a system glitch and the submission HAS gone through. All adopters must complete an approval process which involves a reference check with current/recent vet, a call to landlord if renting and a brief home visit if located in the immediate area. Those who are not in a nearby community will have a virtual home visit. We do permit out of state adoptions. Adopters MUST come to the shelter to transport their new family member home. We do not ship nor do we transport them to their new homes. Adoption policies and application procedures are detailed at the shelter website: http://smithgallhumanesociety.org/ under tab All Adoptable Animals.
