About Slippery

Slippery came to GGOH through a veterinary practice in Red Wing, MN. Slippery was found as a stray by a family in the Red Wing area but they were unable to keep him. With a diagnosis of FIV+, Slippery's future was grim but, one of the vets at the practice took Slippery under her wing and brought him to good health and then called us asking for help with rescue. Slippery's story touched our hearts so, here he is today with us looking for his new forever home. Slippery (DOB 3/2011) is as stated above, FIV+. For Slippery, that means a life of uncertainty but with proper medical care, a good diet, and lots of love, he will likely live a nice long life. FIV means an already compromised immune system so it will be important that Slippery receive routine check-ups and that when and if he falls ill, that he be seen by a vet to quickly get anything of concern under control. Cats with FIV can live harmoniously with other cats; transfer of the disease is usually through deep bite wounds but with Slippery's calm, quiet, and gentle manner, this is low on the risk meter.
