About Dooney

Dooney is a 5 1/2 year old chihuahua mix who is looking for the perfect forever family. Dooney came to us with a group of almost 20 dogs who were rescued from deplorable conditions in an animal hoarding home. Dooney has made remarkable progress with us and is definitely a staff favorite at the shelter. Dooney is as sweet as can be, but can take a moment to warm up after what she has been through. Dooney will be best friends with anyone who will sit on the ground at her level and let her come to them. Dooney loves to jump up on her peoples legs for comfort and affection, but is happiest to sit in your lap. Dooney will need a home with no children or older children who will understand that she wants to come to you on her terms. Dooney is by far the most outgoing, sweet and affectionate of the group that came in, but she is still used to having the constant companionship of at least one other dog. Dooney will definitely need a friendly and gentle canine companion in her new home. Dooney is kennel trained and doggy door trained, but may need time and patience to adjust to house training in a home without a dog door. She would love a nice calm home where someone is home often and will let them sleep in her lap. Once Dooney warms up to her people, she will show them all the affection she has been waiting to give! Dooney weighs 13 pounds full grown. She is spayed, up to date on vaccines, microchipped, and vet checked. Her adoption comes with 30 days of free pet insurance, and comes with a free vet visit. Her adoption fee is $80. Come to our location at 1102 W. Hatcher Road in Phoenix 85021, open Tues-Sunday 11am to 6pm.
