Meet Cocoa. Some of you may remember seeing posts that found a small dog with a rear leg injury. Well, no one ever came forward for her and she entered our custody. Shelter Friends - Josephine County Oregon sponsored the amputation surgery needed to take care of her leg, and now she is thriving in foster care and not looking back! Cocoa has had a long journey already and is very close to finding her new family--after her spay on 5/31, she is ready to move on! 'Hi, I'm Cocoa! I'm about 2 years old and weigh 8 pounds. If you're looking for the perfect companion, then look no further! I'm your girl. I'm a new tripod, but you wouldn't know it by watching me play, run and jump. I am smitten with my foster family and spending time with my people is what I enjoy the most. I am the perfect lap dog and can spend hours getting pet, sleeping and cuddling with you, but don't stop petting me for long as I will give you some gentle nudging to let you know to keep going. I enjoy playing with the other dogs in the household and have fine manners with cats. I am house trained, crate trained, bark on alert and get excited when my people come home. Not much is known about my past, as I was found on the side of the road with a broken leg which had to be amputated. What is known now is that I'm ready to start the next chapter of my life being your best friend and constant companion. Do you have the lap of my dreams?' Available at the Josephine County Animal Shelter, 1420 Brookside Blvd. Grants Pass/Merlin, across from the Grants Pass Airport. Hours: 10 AM - 4 PM Monday - Saturday. You are encouraged to visit and bring your dog to the shelter for a meet and greet where staff is ready to assist on the walking trails and play yards. With few exceptions, all adoptable adults are spayed or neutered, up to date on vaccines and microchipped. 541 474-5458 Adoption fee for dogs are $125, for seniors over 7 years $50, for Veterans with presentation of government issued ID $62.50.
