About Rudy

Adoption Fee: $150
Pekingese
Age: Senior
Sex: Male

This handsome Peke boy came to us from a private owner. His story is sad. He was adopted when he was young by a wonderful family who he lived with his entire life before coming to us. As time went on, the kids moved out and had their own lives, but the adult mom & dad adored Rudy and doted on him like he was a human child. As his human parents agent, the mom became ill and passed away. That left him and his human dad on their own. His human dad was battling ever increasing dementia symptoms and was forced to go live with one of the adult children. He and Rudy spent a few years going back and forth from home to home with the adult kids until they ended up here in AZ. His human father continued to decline and in the home here in AZ there were other dogs that were too big and energetic picking on Rudy, and, his human Dad started forgetting to let Rudy out, etc. His family loved Rudy very much and contacted us to help find him a new home. Rudy has been with us now for a few months. His first month or more was very difficult for him, he really missed his human dad and would look everywhere for him. But, he has now adjusted to his foster home and is doing quite well. We are working on him regaining his prior house training as we are told he had impeccable house manners previously. He is not a leg lifter, just needs to be taken out on a schedule after he eats. He is tolerant of most other dogs and cats - even trying to play from time to time. But, he does not respond well to an overly energetic dog, and, he needs to be fed individually as he is pretty serious about his food! For this reason we are saying he needs a home with no children under teenage years. His eyes are in great shape for a Peke and he has adorable little white eyelashes. He likes to follow you around and lay near but not on you. He is a sweet boy with a few quirks due to his prior living situation and he deserves a great home for his final years where he won't need to move again and he can just be himself. Message us if you could be that home for him.
