About Luke

Luke and Leslie are quite the little duo. Without knowing their story, one would guess that it was less than ideal. Coming from an incredibly high kill shelter and being sent to euthanasia, they were miraculously saved at the last minute by Safe Tails Animal Rescue. Luke and Leslie are a lovable little pair of one year olds that want nothing but to cuddle and give lots of kisses but it will take a minute for them to adapt to their environment. Overly cautious and not very trusting right off the bat, given a little time to adjust and realize they are safe, they will soon be your little shadows. Leslie is very protective of her brother. While still cautious, Leslie is the bolder of the two. she will be the first to inspect new environments, the first to let you know if she thinks they are safe and the the first to open up and give you kisses. Luke will warm up but may take a little longer than his sister. he tends to cower in the back more and try to hide. Once you have broken the wall and gained his trust, he loves to shower you with kisses and tail wags. Both however are extremely cautious and fairly scared of men. There may have be some sort of abuse by a male in their past because both will bark and protect each other and the environment to which they have become comfortable in when a male is present. When you try to pick them up without them expecting it, both will throw themselves onto their backs and Luke will sometimes cry. It will take some time for them to feel safe and realize that they will no longer be hurt and i am convinced they will become the most loving little pair to both men and women. It is recommended that they stay together if at all possible because Luke relies on his sister to be his protector and will often panic if she is not in sight. Leslie, while more confident on her own, still looks for her brother if he is not around for too long. Both are great little lap dogs, very good travelers and love nothing but cuddles in bed and just relaxing. Both do well with dogs of all sizes and do not mind cats. Adopting a pair means your furry friend will never be lonely when you cannot be with them! Leslie and Luke are currently in Texas but can be transported to an approved adopter.
