About Layla and Molly

Say hello to these two sweet bonded seniors, Layla and Molly who are showing signs of slowing down a little as they approach their golden years. Their owner passed away a year ago and they were initially taken in by a kind family acquaintance but have now been surrendered to our rescue as they needed more attention than they were able to provide. Since moving under the care of one of our fosters, the girls have gradually begun to show their personalities. Layla is a 12 yr old terrier mix and weighs just under 9 pounds. She is coming out of her shell and will play with a toy when offered one. She has limited vision in her left eye due to a cataract but it doesn't slow her down. She has shown some interest in playing with the foster's own dogs but she doesn't like big dogs at all. She likes to roll around in the grass as if she hasn't seen grass in a long time, which is probably true since they spent the last year cooped up in a garage. Molly is a 9 yr old Shih Tzu who loves to give kisses and roll around playing when her belly is rubbed. It is so rewarding to see her little tail finally starting to wag. She has a heart murmur and an enlarged heart so will always need to be on medication for that. It warms our hearts to see they still have so much love to give after going through so much adversity. They are both house broken and will use a training pad when inside if left for long periods of time. Both Layla and Molly know the sit command and love treats for rewards. They have not been tested with children or with cats and would not do well with small children whose movements can be unpredictable and noisy. They enjoy snuggling with their human when relaxing and like to sleep together at night, usually under their blanket. They have grown up together and we would like them to stay together due to their ages and the fact that they have been together so long that we consider them a bonded pair. Our price for the two reflects that requirement. They are both up to date on shots and Heartworm negative. They are truly a couple of Golden Girls that deserve to spend the rest of their lives in a loving home that suits their calm and quiet temperament, where they can grow older together in relative quiet, comfort and safety.
