About Fiona

Hi, my name is Fiona. I am a 4 year old spayed brindle Pitbull/lab mix that is looking for a new home. I am a very athletic 60 pounds, though my owner says I act like I am much smaller than that. My current owner rescued me from an animal shelter that was going to have to put me down, and I have been with her for about 3 years now. I love my owner but she knew that she could only keep me temporarily when she saved me, since she was a college student when she adopted me and knew that she would be moving to a city once she graduated. Sadly, my owner moved to Boston last year to start graduate school and they have very strict ordinances regarding aggressive dog breeds in apartments. Her parents know how much she loves me so they offered to keep me until she was done with school. Apparently no one told their 10 year dog that I was going to live with them because she hasn't been very nice to me and she is sad all of the time. My owner just moved to a new apartment but they don't allow dogs so now I need to find my forever home. A bit about myself- I love to play (wrestling with other dogs or humans is my favorite, so I'm not delicate) but I also love to give kisses and snuggle with my humans on the couch. I love other dogs, so I would love to go to a home that has other dogs that are very playful since I can come on strong when I play. I also love to run around, so I would really like a home with a yard, because I am much calmer when I have a backyard to play in. I know basic commands (sit, stay, come) and I am trained to go in my kennel ('Kennel up'). I am leash trained, however I do get strong headed and like to pull when I go on walks and I may need to work on my listening skills when I get excited. I have never tried to run away, but I do have a microchip just in case! I get a bit nervous around men and may bark at them when I first meet them. My owner believes that my past family may have hurt me and left me alone for long periods of time, so I bark when people leave, but then I curl up in my Fiona ball and sleep for a bit. This also makes me nervous around some strangers, but I've never been mean to anyone, I swear! I'm hoping to find a new home where I can have a family that loves me just as much as my current family and have lots of space to play and meet new people! I will do best in a home with other larger dogs that like to play (or no dogs because I love to play with humans) with a big backyard, and with people that would love to take me on walks and snuggle with me at night while watching T.V.! Please help me find my forever home! P.S.- I can smell peanut butter from a mile away, so if you keep that around, then we can definitely be friends!
