About Dixie

This sweet little lady came to rescue from Halifax County, NC. She had been surrendered by a 'family' that had used her to breed, then decided that she no longer suited their needs. We thought we had found her a forever home, but even understanding her senior needs, they stated they wanted to wait for a better fit. She has had several families make appointments to meet her, and none have followed through. This little lady is a DREAM! She is roughly 10-11 years old, and has had a rough life. She is ALWAYS happy and will lick you to to within an inch of your life. Her days consist of frolicking outside, then sleeping a few hours away, only to head back outside again. Dixie is older and showed signs of incontinence. Our vet put her on Proin, and her routine has changed drastically. She would still do best in a home where she can use the rest room a few more times a day than a young kid, or a doggie door (as she loves to go out and lay in the sunshine). She sleeps in her bed at night, and won't make a peep! Dixie is also deaf (due to age) and we are going through slow kill heartworm treatment, which the rescue will sponsor even after adoption. This cutie is healthy and so happy otherwise, she deserves to find that home that will snuggle and love her the rest of her years!
