Ruger is a little over a year old. He is a purebred GSD with police lines and no papered pedigree. He belonged to an elderly couple who thought that having a tough looking dog in the house would get their 16 year old grandson to come visit more often. Reuger has genetic juvenile cataracts that had him blind until he was about 8 months old. They are miraculously improving on their own and he now has about 50% of his vision back. He has been evaluated and monitored by two veterinary ophthalmologists. He doesn't let it phase him one bit. He is fearless and confident and navigates his world beautifully. He is a high drive intelligent animal that will need a home that knows how to set rules, limitations and boundaries. He is very human loving and loyal. He has very little formal obedience but knows 'sit', 'down', 'here', 'crate', and his name. Reuger has high toy drive and will turn anything into a toy such as his food bowl. He loves chasing a large Jolly Ball around the yard for exercise and he is dog treadmill trained. He currently lives with Dutch Shepherds and a 4lb miniature pinscher. He loves other dogs but may bug them to the point of frustration if the other dog is shy and boundaries aren't set by his humans. We are looking for an active family that wants to include Ruger in all daily family activities and possibly weekend outings. He rides beautifully and calmly in the back seat of a vehicle.
