About Mr. Mookie

Adoption Fee: $150.00
Ragdoll
Age: Young Adult
Sex: Male

It is with a heavy heart that I post Mookie on this website looking for a better home for him than me. I adopted him in January thinking he would be a great addition to my Siamese and snowshoe family of kitties. Unfortunately I have, after 5 months, become the cat police. This is a great cat and he needs a person all to himself. He won't share me, his food, and I feel I owe my elderly cat a peaceful and secure rest of her life. I was told Mookie spent a lot of time in his cage when his breeder/owner decided her family situation was not getting better and the two cats she kept needed more care than she could give. He was given to a Petsmart affiliated rescue and I applied to be his home. They told me he was very 'needy' and since I was also very needy I thought this was a match made in heaven. Our adjustment and bonding has gone well, the integration with the other cats failed. Mookie may look like a loveable oaf, but he can be quicker than lightening when going after my other cat. This is a great cat except he wants all of you, he wants to sleep next to you, nap touching you while you watch tv. He is there for you and offers lots of head bumps, kisses and purrs louder than a bulldozer. He really is a pretty mellow guy and has more love than any cat I have ever had, Mookie is not perfect and does have a couple issues, which I will go into a little detail. He has slightly runny poos. I was warned of this beforehand. They are scoop able and his litter box habits are really good. I was used to little butterfly size poos from my other much smaller cats, not the case with this big boy. Litter box must be faithfully attended. I have been trying different quality pet foods and probiotics with some success. This may be a food allergy that can be resolved but it would take some documentation to really chart what he eats. He also seems to be allergic to fleas so spots and brushing and flea combing are necessary. Good thing that he loves to be combed. He would sit on your lap all day long if you would let him, purring, kissing and head bumping, your legs will fall asleep before this 15# or more love lump will move. I have never given up a pet. Mine generally die of old age. If you think you might be a good love person for Mr. Mooks and can help me get over his loss by providing a great home (no other cats probably, I don't see him changing), please reply. I do not think he would be good with small children, but as a note, if he swats, he does it without claws. I have had to be put in my place a couple of times. Mookie also has some separation anxiety so please also be someone who can be there most the time. Lucinda
