About Papaya

Papaya is just a young thing -between two and four years (closer to two) but she has spent a good part of her short life having puppies for her people to sell. That won't happen any more! She is finished raising her last litter (all named after tropical fruits) and now is looking for a home to call her very own. Papaya gets along great with kids and cats and even dogs but large dogs are very scary to her. Kids should be very respectful and patient with her as she was an outside-only dog before and being in a house surrounded by people is a fairly new thing to her. It may take her a tiny bit to warm up to new people but if they sit down and let her come to them she is a cuddle bug. After she knows you it is all a love fest from there on out. She is quiet and respectful and grateful for the new future she has.coming. All potential adopters are expected to complete an application and provide pictures of their yard, patio, and/or balcony making sure we can see the fence line and/or railing. Applications will be reviewed for approval before setting an appointment to come meet and possibly adopt the dog of interest. In addition, those who live in a rental property are expected to provide proof that they are allowed to have a dog where they live. Each of our rescued dogs has been de-wormed if necessary, de-flea'd (with topical treatment if old enough, and by medicated bath if too young), spayed/neutered, microchipped, is up to date on shots, and has been fully examined by a veterinarian. In addition, each adopted dog comes with a starter baggie of the food it has been eating, a few treats for training purposes, a rawhide chew, a lead and collar, and a folder containing pertinent records.
