*MUST LIVE IN 50-MILE RADIUS OF ITASCA (A SUBURB OF CHICAGO) WITHIN THE ILLINOIS BORDER TO ADOPT, NO EXCEPTIONS!* Greetings, friends and future family! My name is Bernard, and if you are looking for a unique, distinguished gentleman to be your pal, I could be a great forever buddy! I am a 7-year-old Rottweiler/St. Bernard mix and I am as handsome as they come! I am 75 pounds of love and fun; I have stunning toffee-colored fur and am dressed for a party in my tuxedo thanks to my white chest. And it is hard to resist once you look at my handsome face with black highlight and I flash my giant smile at you! My friends from Fetching Tails saved me from Chicago Animal Care and Control, where I was taken after I was abandoned. I waited patiently there for two month until I could be released, and was so happy when my rescuers came to take me to my second chance at a happy life. I love to be around people, and am a friendly, outgoing guy. Some of the activities I like to do for fun include long walks, car rides, lounging around in the yard, and playing with my favorite toys. I think it would be nice to have a fenced yard at my forever home so I can nap in the warm summer sunshine. I am active but not hyper; in fact, I am pretty mellow overall! I have a mild case of hip dysplasia, and can be a bit sensitive to touch in that area so I think I would do best in a home with dog-savvy adults and no young children who might forget and bump into my sore spot. Most of the time my condition doesn't bother me at all and I like to do all the normal things most dogs enjoy! And nothing makes me happier than being near my favorite people so we can make each other smile. I have pretty great house manners, as well. I am fully potty trained and can be left home alone while my people go to work. I am not a big fan of crates, but I am polite and don't chew anything I am not supposed to so I don't need to be crated anyway. I can be a bit stubborn sometimes when I want something (What can I say? I am an older dude who is set in my ways!) so I would thrive with patient humans who love and appreciate my personality. I have been dreaming of a true forever home for so long, and I would love for you to go ahead and fill out that application so we can start our happy life together.
